It's that time of the week again, and you might need to clear out your schedules to accommodate sufficient binge hours for these highly anticipated new titles. Anime fans need to pay attention, as Netflix has two brand new shows ready for its content library—The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and Edens Zero. The Timeliners’ Engineering Girls returns for Season 2, plus, Kunal Kapoor, Rahul Dev, Shabana Azmi, and Dino Morea star in a humongous production, The Empire, which gives Alex Rutherford’s book, Empire of the Moghul: Raiders from the North, a live-action treatment. Here is the complete list of releases in store for the OTT space this week.

1. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (August 23)

This anime spin-off focuses on expanding the world of The Witcher and sheds light on the adventures of Vesemir—mentor to the protagonist of the main series, Geralt of Rivia. Set years before he met Geralt, Vesemir is a charming, skilled, and reckless hunter who slays monsters for money. The young Witcher sees this job only as a means to escape poverty until the appearance of strange powers on the continent forces him to brave the demons of his past.

2. Untold: Caitlyn Jenner (August 24)

Content

The third entry into the Untold documentary series touches on the story of Caitlyn Jenner as she trained relentlessly to secure a decathlon gold medal in the 1976 Olympics. However, her time spent practising acted as a deterrent against an inner identity struggle, that would eventually come full circle in 2015 when she publicly transitioned from Bruce to Caitlyn. With a compilation of never-seen-before archival footage, including newly discovered Olympic and home videos from the Jenner family, Caitlyn turns back the clock to talk about her rollercoaster of a life.

3. Clickbait (August 25)

Content

A sinister plot gets underway when family man Nick Brewer is abducted, and videos of him holding disturbing signs are posted online. Initially labelling him as the victim, the authorities take an alternate approach to the situation when the messages worsen, labelling Nick as a murderer and a sex offender. Eventually, the entire investigation highlights the blurring difference between real and digital personas of people, while trying to figure out if this is a crime or a conspiracy.

4. Post Mortem: No One Dies in Skarnes (August 25)

Content

When Live Halan is brought in for an autopsy post her death, she wakes up on the table, confused as to why she is there in the first place. Her brother, Odd, is happy to find her alive but has his own problems to face as he tries to run the family funeral home. However, Live's senses are heightened since waking up, and she now has an unquenched thirst for blood. Stuck in a tough spot, she must find a way to control her urges lest she kills people, which ironically, would help the family business.

5. Open Your Eyes (August 25)

After a brutal accident that kills her family, Julia ends up at an amnesia treatment centre to recuperate. There, she bonds with fellow patients who curiously share related traumas with her. She is also introduced to Adam—an enigmatic young man who guides her around the facility. However, these positive vibes are short-lived as Julia starts having strange and eerily realistic dreams and hallucinations. With no one to give her concrete answers, she decides to escape and figure out the truth about the place she's in.

6. Edens Zero (August 26)

Adapted from the manga of the same name, Edens Zero follows the story of a boy named Shiki Granbell who lives in an abandoned amusement park surrounded by animatronics. When his home becomes the focal point of a robot rebellion, he embarks on a voyage aboard the titular starship across different planets, searching for a cosmic goddess known as 'Mother'.

7. Engineering Girls Season 2.0 (August 27)

The Timeliners' Engineering Girls is back for a second season, and this time, the leading women face their final year of college. Stressing over exams, placements, and their careers, Maggu, Subu, and Kiara have a lot to think about. While tensions mount and the misadventure count rises, the girls decide to find ways to make the most of their final months of college life. The show stars Kritika Avasthi, Barkha Singh, and Sejal Kumar.

8. The Empire (August 27)

Based on Alex Rutherford's first book from the Empire of the Moghul series—Raiders from the North—this magnum opus depicts the exploits of the first emperor of the Mughal dynasty, Zahīr ud-Dīn Muhammad Babur, since his ascension to the throne of Fergana at the age of 12. The plot focuses on his fate, family, and rivalry with Muhammad Shaybani Khan, who defeated the emperor and took control of Samarkand. This setback forced him to turn his attention to Ibrahim Lodhi's Delhi sultanate and the eventual First Battle of Panipat, which led to the formation of the Mughal Empire in India. The show stars Kunal Kapoor, Dino Morea, Shabana Azmi, Rahul Dev, and more.
