Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated India's first ever smog tower in the capital's Connaught Place area on Monday. The over 20-metre-tall structure, has been set up to improve air quality in a radius of around 1km. Covid-19 pandemic delayed the construction work of the smog tower. The Delhi cabinet had approved the pilot project in October last year. The smog tower will be able to purify 1,000 cubic metres of air per second. Umar Khalid calls Delhi riots conspiracy case 'cooked up', points to contradictions
Former JNU student leader Umar Khalid, arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the north-east Delhi riots conspiracy case, told a Delhi Court on Monday that there were various contradictions in the police's claims and called it a "cooked up" case. Khalid, along with several others, has been booked under the stringent anti-terror law UAPA. They are accused of being the "masterminds" of the February 2020 violence, which had left 53 people dead and over 700 injured. He has sought bail in the case. (PTI)
Nizamuddin Markaz: HC directs police to hand over keys of residential portion
The Delhi high court Monday directed the city police to handover the keys of the residential portion of the Nizamuddin Markaz to its occupants after it was locked by the authorities in the wake of an FIR in connection with the Tablighi Jamaat congregation there last year. Justice Yogesh Khanna, who was hearing a plea by the mother of Jamaat leader Maulana Saad, directed that the keys be handed over to her within two days and clarified that for now, the occupants cannot enter any non-residential portion of the property. Two passengers who landed in Delhi from Afghanistan today found Covid positive
Two persons out of the 146 passengers who landed in Delhi from Afghanistan on Monday were found positive for Covid-19. Speaking to ANI, Rajendra Kumar, sub-divisional magistrate said, "Two people coming from Afghanistan have been found COVID positive. They have been sent to LNJP Hospital." The second batch of 146 Indian nationals who were evacuated from Afghanistan via Doha arrived in the national capital on Monday on various flights. (ANI)

Afghan refugees on Monday staged a protest in front of the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Delhi seeking refugee cards, resettlement options to a third country and security from the international body and the Indian government. Protestors that also included women and children carried banners with the slogan "We want future".
Three drug suppliers held in Delhi, cannabis worth over Rs 5.5 cr seized
Delhi Police on Sunday arrested three people for allegedly supplying drugs and seized cannabis worth more than Rs 5.5 crore from their possession. As per the police, a team led by assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Dayanand of special staff south district apprehended the three accused from MMTC road in Malviya Nagar area of Delhi while they were carrying a huge quantity of contraband in an auto-rickshaw. When the police searched the auto-rickshaw, they found three bags that enclosed 45 packets containing 93.582 kg of cannabis.

Delhi records 21% surplus rainfall this monsoon: IMD
With the return of monsoon, the national capital has been witnessing a continuous downpour with brief intervals over the last week. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi has received a surplus of 21 per cent rainfall so far.
