Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami starrer Thalaivii is set to release on September 10. The makers of the film revealed the new release date of the film on Monday with a new poster. The film was earlier scheduled to release on April 23 but due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the film’s release was postponed twice due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Thalaivii is a biopic of Tamil Nadu’s former chief minister and actor J Jayalalithaa, portrayed by Kangana Ranaut. The film revolves around the life of the iconic figure, capturing her journey from her time in the movies to becoming a politician. MGR was a mentor figure to Jayalalithaa, the role which Arvind Swami is portraying in the film.
Announcing the release date on Twitter, Vibri Media, one of the production houses wrote: The story of this iconic personality deserves to be witnessed only on the BIG SCREEN! Pave way, for #Thalaivii as she is all set to make a superstar entry into the world of cinema, yet again, a place where she has always belonged! Thalaivii IN CINEMAS near you on 10th September!
Earlier the film was titled as Thalaivi, but after a minor change, it is now titled as Thalaivii. The makers of the film haven’t opened up on the minor title change.
Directed by AL Vijay, the film is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh under their banners Vibri Media, Karma Media, And Entertainment in association with Gothic Entertainment and Sprint films respectively.

The film also stars Bhagyashree, Jisshu Sengupta, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. The film is a multilingual biographical drama that has been simultaneously shot in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
