It seems like we are finally getting closer to receiving a native WhatsApp iPad application. This is based on the fresh information shared by WABetaInfo, an account dedicated to sharing WhatsApp's under testing and upcoming features. It tweeted that WhatsApp has begun testing "multi-device 2.0" and the iPad app will be a part of this.

It reveals that the new WhatsApp multi-device beta support will allow users to add iPad to the list of "Linked Devices". The process will be the same as linking any other device like a smartphone or a notebook. The best part is that the WhatsApp iPad support will be a native app and not through the web version. It will be available for download and installation through the App Store.

Another good thing is that it will work independently. It means the user will not be required to have the account paired with a smartphone all the time. A user will be able to use and chat on WhatsApp on an iPad even if his smartphone is switched off or not connected to the internet. This will bring true freedom to iPad users.

It is further mentioned that WhatsApp for iPad app has not been released yet. All iOS beta testers will automatically receive the app as and when it becomes available. The team also has plans for adding Android tablets support but is focusing on the iPad version for the time being. We will keep you posted as more details will emerge.
