Synopsis

before July 18, prices rose everyday for 41 days, this financial year, taking petrol prices up by Rs 11.44 per litre in Delhi and diesel by Rs 8.74 per litre.

Fuel retailers across the country kept prices unchanged, despite the 20 paise price cut on Sunday, opting to review global price movement before making any changes.

Petrol continues to be priced at Rs 101.64 a litre in Delhi, while diesel is at Rs 89.07 a litre.

Price in other parts of the country remained the same as on Sunday but varied based on local taxes.

Petrol prices in Mumbai and Kolkata remain at Rs 107.66 and Rs 101.93 per litre, respectively while in Chennai, petrol is priced at Rs 99.32. In the Tamil city, petrol prices fell by almost Rs 3 per litre on August 14 after VAT rates were cut on fuel.

Diesel prices in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata remained at Rs 96.64, Rs 93.66 and Rs 92.13 per litre, respectively.

Sunday's price cut came in light of declining global crude oil prices. Pump prices of fuels have been static since July 18.
