Himanta Biswa Sarma and his cabinet colleagues, held a marathon meeting for 21 hours over two days with district deputy commissioners at Diphu to draw a targeted work plan for the coming six months to bring faster growth for the state.
“The first DCs' conference at Diphu has been so incredibly gratifying, with the spirit of Team Assam coming out loud and profound. We've a dream of taking Assam to a new trajectory of growth & making it among fastest growing states in India,” Sarma said.
He added that a targeted and integrated action plan for various sectors has been devised after detailed discussions with DCs with focus on faster service delivery, expeditious infrastructure push, better health and education and effective delivery and monitoring of central schemes.
“We've identified priority work areas for next six months, to be closely monitored and completed. We also discussed proposed Mission Basundhara, the doorstep delivery of government services,” he said.
He said, “Mission Basundhara will include various government services like land mutation, updating of land records and delivery of these services to the people at their homes through online mode without coming to government offices.”
The first leg of the meeting started at 11 am on Sunday until midnight and resumed at 8.30 am on Monday and finally ended at after eight hours at 4.30 pm.
Emerging out of the marathon conference Sarma said, “Time-bound and strategic implementation of projects would be focused on to achieve growth on all parameters.”
He also said that ways to foster close coordination between civil and police administration were also discussed in the conference so that synergy can be achieved for better service delivery to the public. Citing an example, he said that though police is ramping up the campaign against drugs, the rehabilitation of addicts has to be ensured by the civil administration for sustainable results.
In the conference, ministers and senior officers put up presentation of activities of various departments and urged the DCs for their cooperation in completing the projects.
The chief minister said that the next DC conference will be held at Tezpur within six months where the status of the decisions taken in Diphu conference would be reviewed.
