Cincinnati Reds take one-game lead over San Diego Padres in National League Wild Card race

The Cincinnati Reds took a one-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League Wild Card standings with their win Sunday to complete a four-game sweep of the Miami Marlins at Great American Ball Park coupled with the San Diego Padres' 7-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies at Petco Park, with 36 games remaining in the 2021 Major League Baseball season.

The Padres' loss was their ninth in 11 games. The Reds' 3-1 win was their fourth consecutive victory and eighth in 11 games.

Both teams are off Monday. The Reds will enter their three-game series against the Brewers in Milwaukee with a 69-57 record. The Padres enter their three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in San Diego with a 68-58 record.
