Saira Khan has spoken out about her shock exit from Loose Women seven months ago, citing online trolling as a reason for leaving calling it 'horrendous'.

The straight talking 51-year-old felt that her time on the show wasn't empowering because of the abuse she endured online.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, she told how she felt it became 'toxic for women. It's a show for women but I don't feel like it empowered me.'

She went on to say that she felt she was only 'tolerating' some of the women on the show, and that some she wouldn't be friends with outside of a working environment.

Saira then said that she does still keep in touch with Coleen Nolan, Ruth Langsford, Linda Robson, and Christine Lampard.

The Apprentice star spoke a lot about her personal issues during her stint on the show, including her arranged marriage, abuse, and adoption and she felt she didn't get thanks for speaking out on such matters.

She added: 'My family hasn't asked to be related to someone famous but I felt like I was putting them into a precarious situation.'

Saira felt her heart was no longer in it, and that she didn't want to be in a job where she said: 'you come home feeling s*** about yourself and what you've said. The only thing you can do is make a change.'

Her situation on the show was very comfortable with a good wardrobe, friends and money, but the toxicity grew and trolling got too much to handle for her, and now she is 'glowing' since she left the show.

Saira assured that she is happy for the women who still appear on the show, but felt she had to remove herself from it to grow.

Although the decision was scary for her, she said that she has less financial stability now, but is enjoying herself and has created her skincare brand and is taking care of herself through her diet and exercise.

Her television appearances have not been ruled out altogether, and she said to the publication that she would love to appear on Strictly Come Dancing and I'm A Celeb.

Saira also spoke about her bikini shots she often posts on Instagram, and has a new found confidence surrounding her body from taking care of herself properly.

The confidence has empowered her to speak out about once-taboo subjects for women, including incontinence following child birth and that she has recently had a surgery to rectify hers.
