PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry government has decided to reopen colleges and schools for classes IX to XII students on September 1. Making an announcement in this regard after holding a meeting with home minister A Namassivayam and officials of the school education and collegiate and higher education and health departments, chief minister N Rangasamy said classes in schools would be conducted on a rotational basis. Rangasamy said most of the teaching faculty members in schools and colleges had got Covid-19 vaccine. He expressed optimism that the rest would get the jab shortly. He said the directorate of health and family welfare would hold special camps in colleges to administer the vaccine to the eligible people. Rangasamy said the government had also proposed to reopen schools for classes I to VIII students on a rotational basis. Schools and colleges in neighbouring Tamil Nadu will reopen on September 1.
