FIR LODGES AGAINST ASSAM POLICE OVER STEALING OF CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
A theft case has been registered on Sunday against Assam police at Mizoram Bairabi police station for allegedly stealing away construction materials belonging to Mizoram from the inter-state border area. According to Kolasib deputy Commissioner H. Lalthlangliana the Assam police personnel have entered Mizoram territory at Zophai area near Bairabi town in Kolasib district where the Assam police created problems with the workers and stole some construction materials, including iron rods, from the construction site. However, sources from Bairabi said that the construction materials were handed over to the workers by Assam police on Sunday. Meanwhile the DC also wrote to his Hailakandi counterpart on Saturday to take necessary action and told that the bridge construction was a government project to connect the main road with the paddy field belonging to Mizoram’s Chief Minister Ch. Chhunga. Lalthlangliana also added that bridge construction should not be linked with boundary issue.
OVER 300 SCHOOLS ALLOWED TO RE-OPEN IN COVID-19 FREE AREAS
As per the new Covid-19 guidelines issued by the state government on 8 August the school education department has allowed to re-open over 300 schools for primary to higher secondary level in Covid-19 free areas outside the jurisdiction of Aizawl Municipal Corporation for the new academic session 2021-2022 following strict standard operating procedure. Director of School education department James Lalrinchhana maintained that at least 376 schools in seven districts, including Aizawl district, have been allowed to re-open and more schools will be re-opened in the next few days. The director also told that the schools, which have been permitted to re-open, are mostly located in remote rural villages where internet connectivity is very poor. The re-opening of school in such villages has immensely helped students, who could not get good internet access. Online classes are still going on for schools in Covid-19 areas, he added.

MIZORAM REPORTED 4 MORE COVID 19 DEATHS
According to department of information and public relations the state has reported four more Covid 19 deaths and 292 new positive cases in the last 24 hrs, pushing the tally increased to 52,472. The latest bulletin mention that 12 positive cases were found during TrueNAT test, 280 cases were detected by Rapid Antigen Test. The state currently has 5,982 active cases with 13.95% positivity rate, of which 27,110 Male and 25,362 female. The deadly virus has claimed 200 lives in the state so far.
