A new regional monoclonal antibody treatment center to fight COVID-19 has opened in Southeast Texas.

Judge from counties across the region gathered at the Golden Triangle Emergency Center, 5550 Eastex Fwy, Monday morning to announce the opening.

Monoclonal antibody therapy is an intravenous infusion given to COVID-positive patients within 10 days of the onset of symptoms in order to prevent hospitalization.

The facility will treat people 12 and older from Jefferson, Hardin, Jasper, and Orange counties. Patients will be treated from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every day.

Residents of the partner counties who test positive for COVID-19 should have their primary care physician schedule the infusion. Those without a primary care doctor should call the hotline at 409-550-2356 and press option 1 to schedule an appointment. If confronted with a busy signal, callers are encouraged to keep dialing.

“I am deeply appreciative of the Texas Division of Emergency Management for their partnership in bringing to the citizens of Southeast Texas an initiative that is proven to reduce COVID hospitalizations dramatically and provide relief and healing to the suffering,” said Jefferson County judge Jeff Branick.
