WI vs PAK LIVE, 2nd Test Day 3: Pakistan to resume at 212/4, as rain washes out all three sessions on Day 2- Follow live updates- Pakistan are on top despite the Fawad Alam leaving the pitch midway having put 212/4 on the board in the play so far. Alam combined with captain Babar Azam to steer the visitors to a position of strength before quick wickets and rain played spoilsport on Day 2. The next two days of the game will be excruciating with 98 overs to be bowled each day in the hot and humid climate. With Pakistan having already done the bulk of their batting, the onus will be on them to take control and not let the Test slip like they did last time out.

Day 2 called off

All three sessions on Day 2 of the second Test between West Indies and Pakistan were washed out here at the Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica on Saturday. On Day 1, West Indies were on top after taking three quick wickets at the top. The partnership between captain Babar Azam and Fawad Alam rescued Pakistan and took the visitors out of the trouble. However, both Azam and Alam could not score a century. Fawad was retired hurt as he was suffering from severe cramps due to heat in the Caribbean. For the host, Kemar Roach picked up three crucial wickets while Jayden Seales removed one Pakistani batsman. On Day 2, West Indies will aim to warp up Pakistan innings while Mohammad Rizwan and  Faheem Ashraf will look to build a partnership and take Men in Green’s total ahead.

WI vs PAK LIVE, 2nd Test Day 2 Live Score: Can Rizwan, Ashraf power Pakistan to a big total? PAK 212/4 (74 ov) – Follow live updates – Mohammad Rizwan and Faheem Ashraf will look to ensure Pakistan reach a big total when they resume innings on Day 2. The duo are well-settled at the crease after a perfect platform laid by skipper Babar Azam and Fawad Alam. The duo need to continue their partnerships if Pakistan aims for a fightback in the Test series.

 Earlier on Day 1, Azam and Alam’s fifties helped Pakistan end Day 1 on a high as they scored over 200 runs with the loss of four wickets. The duo scored 75 and 76 (retd. hurt) respectively after the top 3 failed to score runs for Pakistan. The visitors were reduced to 2/3 inside the first four overs of the match. Kemar Roach was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets. Mohd Rizwan and Faheem Ashraf remained not out in the third and final session of the day.

Babar Azam and Fawad Alam were battling to lift Pakistan from a horrible start at 62 for three at lunch on the opening day of the second Test against the West Indies at Sabina Park on Friday.

Babar, his country’s captain and premier batsman, will resume after the interval on 31 alongside left-hander Fawad, whose unbeaten 26 has contributed to a fourth-wicket partnership so far worth 60 runs.

Kemar Roach struck twice and new ball partner Jayden Seales claimed early success as well to have the tourists tottering at two for three with just four overs gone after home captain Kraigg Brathwaite repeated his decision of the first Test by putting the opposition in on winning the toss.

Pakistan’s hopes for a more solid start from their top order crumbled after just four deliveries when Abid Ali fell to a good low catch by Jermaine Blackwood at third slip off Roach. Revelling in the bowler-friendly conditions, Roach added to that early success in his next over as new batsman Azhar Ali fell without scoring, the former captain edging a delivery through to wicketkeeper Joshua da Silva. Seales, man of the match in the first Test when he claimed eight wickets including five in the second innings, enjoyed his share of the early spoils.

He drew the other opener, Imran Butt, into playing at another full-length delivery for da Silva to take his second straightforward catch in nine balls. Babar and Fawad displayed admirable grit and discipline in defying West Indies’ all-pace attack. The elegant Babar countering with a handful of handsome boundaries while Fawad was again a model of unorthodox defiance given his much-talked-about exaggerated square-on batting stance.
After scrambling to a thrilling one-wicket win in the first Test at the same venue five days earlier, the home side made one change to that winning line-up.

Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph further bolstered the pace attack at the expense of left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican. Pakistan also made just one change as experienced wrist-spinner Yasir Shah, who went wicketless in the first Test, was replaced by left-arm orthodox slow bowler Nauman Ali.

West Indies are seeking a first Test series triumph over Pakistan for 21 years. The visitors are hoping to repeat the efforts of the 2005 and 2011 tours of the Caribbean when they lost the first encounters before rebounding to square both two-Test series.

For Pakistan, Fawad Alam scored a fifty in the first innings of the first Test while Faheem Ashraf also looked in good touch with a 44 run knock. Captain Babar Azam will also look to convert those starts into a big score. He scored an important fifty for visitors in the first game. In the bowling department, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Abbas are on fire. Afridi picked 8 wickets while Hasan Ali also chipped in with 3 wickets in the 2nd innings. Pakistan just ran out of patience in the first Test which cost them the game. They will not look to make big changes in the side for the 2nd game.

For West Indies, captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood are in great form with the bat having scored the fifties in the first match. Former captain Jason Holder will also look to continue the form with the bat and with the ball. He had scored fifty and took some crucial wickets in the first game. Jayden Seales who was the hero for the Windies with the ball took eight wickets in the match will once again play a crucial role in the match.

WI vs PAK Live Score 2nd Test – Both team captains after the first Test

Babar Azam: This is the beauty of Test cricket. We did well with batting, but we didn’t carry on with the momentum in the first innings. The bowlers did well, and then again we lost momentum with quick wickets in the second innings. It was difficult to score, it was swinging and seaming, the outfield was slow, and their bowlers bowled in the channel. We were patient and wanted to build a partnership. Hasan, Shaheen and Abbas were good throughout, and we took our catches, but we did drop two in the final session which might have made the difference.

Kraigg Brathwaite: A remarkable Test. We never lost hope. Pakistan bowled very well, and this pitch requires patience from the batsmen. Whoever had more patience came out on top. We have some time before the next Test and it will be a different pitch. The bowlers did well, they were tired, but they gave it they’re all. We have been working hard as a batting group and Blackwood is hungry for runs at his home ground so good on him. Pakistan will come back hard, but whoever is more patient will come out on top. I think this was a good cricket pitch – had something for the pacers, and had value for runs because the ball was coming on.
