PLFI area commander nabbed by Gumla Police

Gumla, Aug 22 (UNI) An area commander of the proscribed PLFI has been arrested by the Gumla Police.
Briefing the press on Sunday Gumla SP Ehtesham Waquarib said that PLFI area commander Johan Topno alias John Topno had escaped from police on several occasions and had created terror across four districts however his two other associates managed to flee.
The SP said that a total of 14 cases related to murder, loot, extortion and arms act in Chaibasa, Khunti, Simdega and Gumla districts. He said that on August 21 a tip-off had been received that area commander Johan Topno along with his squad members had gathered in Turdu village under Kamdara Police Station.
Following the input a team under Basia SDPO Vikas Anand Laguri was constituted which conducted raids and managed to arrest Johan Topno while two others managed to flee. From the arrested a desi loaded revolver, a cartridge, a mobile and a bike was recovered. The SP said that Topno had joined the ranks of the PLFI in 2018.
