Senior TN BJP leader La Ganesan was appointed the new Governor of Manipur on Sunday after the post became vacant post the retirement of Najma Heptulla earlier this month. He is the 17th Governor of Manipur.

The 76-year-old Ganesan was a member of the Rajya Sabha between 2016 to 2018. He also served as BJP state president and the party in various capacities.
At present, he is the party’s National Council Member. He also served as the National Secretary and then as the BJP vice president at the national level.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister MK Stalin congratulated Ganesan on his appointment. Pointing out that Ganesan has had a long political stint, Stalin, in a tweet, said, “My wishes to brother L Ganesan, a seasoned leader has won the love of Kalaignar.”
