Police Video Shows Chase, Arrest of Rapper Paper Lovee, a Shooting Suspect, on Georgia Highway
An Atlanta rapper was arrested on Friday in connection with a shooting in May that left one 25-year-old victim with several gunshot wounds.
Paper Lovee, 25, whose real name is Ibnisa Durr, was taken into custody following a police chase on the Georgia 400 highway after he crashed his BMW into two patrol cars.
Police reported that Durr was wanted for his alleged role in a shooting at a convenience store in southeast Atlanta. Authorities tracked him down to an apartment in Sandy Springs, just north of Atlanta, at around 10 a.m. on Friday, prompting him to flee.
One officer involved in the final crash was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated for a potential head injury. A K-9 unit was present in one of the patrol cars but was not injured.
The Sandy Springs Police shared a dashcam video showing the moments after the chase came to end. In the clip, Durr is seen exiting his BMW, which had butterfly doors, throwing an unknown object into the air before being tackled by police.

"We want to make it clear that despite the serious charges he's facing in Atlanta, if someone commits a crime in our city, or endangers our residents, injures our officers, and damages our property, we will prosecute them with everything we have and then hand them over to the outside agency that also wants them," Sandy Springs Police Sgt. Sal Ortega said, as reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
In addition to charges of aggravated assault stemming from the incident in May, Durr now faces charges of obstruction of law enforcement; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and fleeing and attempting to elude officer after his attempt to flee the Sandy Springs Police.
The rapper also has a history of arrests in Fulton County, Georgia, dating back to 2013, according to the Journal-Constitution. His most recent stint in prison, for a probation violation, ended in November 2019.
Despite being unsigned at the time of his arrest, Paper Lovee had seen considerable success as a rapper, with over 250,000 followers on Instagram. On Spotify, his two most popular tracks, "Here 4 Ya" and "No Socks" ft. Lil Baby, currently have over 5.5 million and over 2.6 million plays, respectively.
Paper Lovee had previously been signed by 300 Entertainment and preparing to launch a new album in the days prior to his arrest. His most recent single dropped on the same day as he was arrested.
