A 24-year-old woman who was jealous of her 2-year-old nephew allegedly abducted and choked the toddler to death. After this, she dumped the body in a drain in Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area and was later arrested by Delhi Police. The police also arrested the woman’s husband as he assisted her in committing the crime.
The 24-year-old woman has been identified as Yamuna and her husband is Rajesh. They both live in the slum region of Raghubir Nagar in Khyala. Their source of income was through begging on the streets.
The Delhi Police reported that the motive for committing the crime was that Yamuna felt jealous of the 2-year old. The police further said that Yamuna started feeling that the toddler’s mother did not love her as much as the little kid, and she started becoming insecure because of it.
How did Yamuna and her husband Rajesh commit the crime?
The police reported that Yamuna and Rajesh, first kidnapped the boy and then they strangulated him. After this, the couple drowned the kid in the dirty, weeded area of Punjabi Bagh’s Ganda Nala (Drain).
Later, when the toddler’s mother filed a complaint, the police started tracking down the accused with the help of CCTV footage within a 5kkm range of the crime scene. The police also mentioned that they took the help of 150 people including 89 civilians and 32 workers of the flood department to recover the toddler’s body.
Adding further to it, the police said that the case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway.
