You SHALL go to the ball... again! Actress starring in West End's Cinderella played the same role in school production
There must be a fairy godmother making Carrie Hope Fletcher’s wishes come true.
The leading lady in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella has revealed she first played the character as a schoolgirl 16 years ago.
But little did she know the challenges she would have to overcome before the role would be hers again.
The singer and actress, 28, auditioned for Lord Lloyd-Webber’s West End musical in 2019 and was due to take centre stage the following year when the pandemic struck.

Then this year the pingdemic meant the opening night last month was cancelled after a cast member caught Covid.
She finally went to the ball last week, when the musical premiered at the Gillian Lynne Theatre with a full-capacity audience.

Afterwards she shared a picture of herself as Cinderella aged 13, with a scrubbing brush in hand, and wrote: ‘Little 13-year-old me definitely didn’t think I’d end up here but I hope she’s proud!’
In Lord Lloyd-Webber’s show, Miss Fletcher plays a Cinderella with a gothic twist.

She appeared in Les Miserables in the West End as a child, is a YouTube star and has written several popular books.
Her brother Tom Fletcher is in the band McFly and will take part in Strictly Come Dancing.
