MUMBAI: Twenty fresh FIRs were registered by the
Mumbai Police between Thursday and Friday in connection with
BJP's Jan Aashirwad Yatra.
The charges largely pertain to lockdown violations and have been slapped against organisers and activists.
Previously, 19 FIRs were registered which takes the total to 39 cases.
Ghatkopar and Khar police stations recorded two cases each, while Mulund, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Pantnagar, Santacruz, Powai, MIDC, Saki Naka, Meghwadi, Goregaon, Charkop, Borivali, Vanrai, Kurar,
Dahisar and MHB Colony police stations recorded a single case each.
"We will identify the accused and serve them with notices," a police officer said.
BJP leaders
Narayan Rane and
Devendra Fadnavis participated in the yatra. Many opposition leaders objected to the rally in view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
