Gunfight Erupts In J-K’s Pulwama

A gunfight broke between security forces and militants in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said.

Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the upper reaches of the forest area of Nagbaeran Tral in the south Kashmir district, following inputs about the presence of militants there, they said.

During the search operation, officials said the hiding militants opened fire on the security forces, who retaliated leading to an encounter.

The exchange of fire is underway and further details are awaited, they said.(With PTI inputs)
