DIPHU, Aug 21: The first-ever conference of deputy commissioners of the state will begin here from Sunday. The conference will end on August 23.
The conference will be presided over by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Since the last two weeks the district administration and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) led by chief executive member Tuliram Ronghang have been busy with the repairing of the main road in the town along with the street lights.
The street solar lights have been repaired and the posts are strap with decorative LED lights.
The roads are now black and smooth ensuring a smooth flow of traffic. The infrastructure boost has been overseen by CEM Ronghang himself.
As Diphu is a small town the few restaurants that are available have been booked and hotel rooms have been reserved for the comfortable stay of the DCs.
Most of the DCs had arrived by Saturday evening.
Sources said picnic spots like waterfalls near Diphu have been closed to the public strictly from Friday onwards which are due to be used by the DCs and dignitaries for sightseeing and taking in the natural beauty of Karbi Anglong district.
One such place is Longso Kangthu picnic spot which is under the Forest Department, KAAC.
The IBs of various departments and government guest houses have been spruced up for the accommodation of the DCs and other dignitaries as Diphu does not have many hotels to accommodate them.
One such accommodation is the Tourist Lodge, Diphu. The Tourist lodge was inspected by executive member Lunsing Teron on Saturday.
