The summer transfer window is alive and kicking as clubs throughout Europe look to cement their squads ahead of next season.

The future of England captain Harry Kane is set to be major talking point throughout the window, though the Tottenham forward has now returned to the club.

Declan Rice (left) is reportedly unhappy that West Ham's £100million valuation has so far prevented a summer transfer to Manchester United or Chelsea. The club have stood firm on their massive, nine-figure asking price, and with the end of the transfer window closing at the end of August, it looks unlikely anyone will pay that at the moment. According to the Telegraph, Rice is frustrated about their intransigence and will therefore spurn any talks of a higher wage and contract extension in an attempt to force his way out of the club. His deal has two years to run at the end of this season. The defensive midfielder, 22, is a talisman and star player for the David Moyes (right) and the Hammers, who narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last season, finishing sixth to make it into the Europa League. Rice has ambitions to aim for trophies and regularly play Champions League footballl, and is understood to be put out by their lack of signings, with West Ham the only Premier League side not to have made a permanent signing yet.

Burnley to go head-to-head with Crystal Palace in pursuit of Watford's £5m-rated Will Hughes with Premier League duo seeking midfield additions before the end of the window

The Watford star (pictured) could be available in a cut-price deal - potentially as little as £5million. The 26-year-old is going cheaper than expected due to the fact his contract at Vicarage Road expires at the end of the season. Palace's interest is at an advanced stage, but Burnley have made their own proposal with a view to signing Hughes by the end of the month. It remains to be seen, however, if Hughes is interested in leaving the Watford this season ahead of a potentially lucrative free transfer move away next summer.
