    Green Tech: How Sentient is transforming farm waste to fuel

    Synopsis

    The technology from Sentient Labs uses microbes to break down paddy and wheat straw to produce pure hydrogen and methane - which can be further processed to produce hydrogen.

    Bengaluru: How to churn out hydrogen from paddy, wheat and sugarcane waste? Sentient Labs, an offshoot of Pune-based automotive software maker KPIT, has developed a technology in partnership with the Agharkar Research Institute to produce hydrogen from agricultural waste. This is expected to fuel trucks and buses on highways. If India wants to become a ‘green hydrogen hub’ and wean itself away from expensive and polluting fossil fuel imports
