FC Cincinnati sign veteran defender Chris Duvall
After engaging veteran defender Chris Duvall in a trial for more than a week, FC Cincinnati announced Friday afternoon it had signed Duvall ahead of its Saturday match at New England Revolution.
FC Cincinnati completed the signing of Duvall, which will keep him at the club through the end of the current season. The contract also offers a option to extend Duvall's stay through 2022.
Since the 2014 MLS season, Duvall has logged more than 9,000 minutes for the New York Red Bulls, Montreal, Houston Dynamo FC and the Portland Timbers.
Duvall appeared in 10 matches for the Timbers in 2020. He appeared in 25 and 27 matches in the 2016 season for the Red Bulls and the 2017 season for Montreal, respectively.
Duvall should provide depth and a natural feel for the right back position, where Joseph-Claude Gyau and center back Nick Hagglund have been filling in.
“I’m very happy to sign for FC Cincinnati,” Duvall said in a team news release. “I know a lot of guys on this team, and so to be able to join them is great. It means a lot to be able to sign on and help the squad.”
