Seamus Power earned his stripes on what is now the Korn Ferry Tour and now it’s time for Rosslare’s Paul Murphy (pictured) to follow in his footsteps as he takes his first steps in the professional ranks.

The Wexford man (23) had a standout career for the University of Montevallo Falcons in Alabama, recording six top-fives, three top-10s, and four top-20s as he twice earned selection for the NCAA D2 Super Regionals.

“I am fortunate enough to have amazing parents who love and support me the whole way,” reports Paul, who is sponsored by Aiden Brown from the Irish American Partnership.

“I was a teenager when I first dreamt of becoming a professional golfer. While many of my peers moved on to more traditional pursuits, I never gave up on the sport.”

He attended junior college for two years before finishing out his college career in Alabama, but now he’s ready to take the next step.

Winner of the Faldo Series Ireland Championship at Mount Juliet in 2018 and first European in 106 years to win the prestigious Gadsden Invitational last year, he flies out to the US next week to prepare for the Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying School.

He’s also a player who is not afraid to go low, shooting a 14-under par 58 at Trussville Country Club in Alabama last summer and a nine-under 63 at Rosslare recently.
