The Standing Parliamentary Committee on Urban Affairs will visit Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from August 20 to 25. The purpose of this committee's visit is to examine in detail the issues related to urban development and other welfare projects in both the union territories.
The committee, headed by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, consists of 30 members from Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. The committee will start its tour from Srinagar on August 20. As per the schedule, on the first day, the committee will meet officials of various departments and inspect several projects.
The members of the committee will review the working of Smart City Mission, AMRUT Abhiyan, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan-Urban, Pradhan Mantri Shahari Awas Yojana, implementation of Metro project in Srinagar and Jammu, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana (National Urban Livelihood Scheme), and CPWD.
On the second day, the committee members will go to Pahalgam. After Pahalgam, the committee will go to Gulmarg and hold a review meeting with the local officials.
In the last leg of the tour, the committee members will reach Leh and review the works of Atal Bharat Mission-Urban, PM Seva Nidhi, PMAY-Urban, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, and CPWD.
