WhatsApp has been offering the disappearing messages feature for quite some time. It debuted the functionality in November 2020 with a time limit of seven days. It was recently spotted to be working on adding a new 24-hour limit but a fresh WABetaInfo has revealed that it has one more time limit under development.
The report claims that WhatsApp disappearing messages will have a new 90 days limit. This is in addition to the existing 7-day limit and previously leaked 24-hours limit. It seems like WhatsApp will soon allow users to choose from three different time limit options that should bring more flexibility to users.
For the uninitiated, WhatsApp disappearing messages is a feature that lets users send messages which get deleted automatically after a while. This duration is currently set to 7 days as it is the only time limit option available publically for now. The feature is meant for conversations where you do not want messages to live forever.
It is hard to say when we will see other time limits make their way to the public versions of WhatsApp. We will make sure to keep you posted as more and more details will emerge. It should be noted that it is not a compulsion to use disappearing messages functionality and once even turn it off whenever they feel like.
