J&K: JCO killed, terrorist neutralised in Rajouri encounter

Jammu, Aug 19 (UNI) A junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Army was killed and a terrorist neutralised in an encounter in Thanamandi area of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Thursday.
A police officer said a jawan also suffered injuries in the operation which is still on.
Police sources said exact number of terrorists is not known as the location where the operation is going on has a thick forest area.
The Army officer said that during the operation, a jawan suffered bullet injuries and was immediately evacuated to the nearest medical facility where he succumbed.
The gunfight broke out early this morning in Karyote Kalas area, where a Cordon and Search Operation was launched on reports of suspicious movement.
"As the forces were zeroing in on the suspected spot, terrorists fired upon them, triggering an encounter," police said.
