BHUBANESWAR: The foundation stone of the Institute of Chemical Technology’s
Indian Oil Odisha campus (ICT-IOC Bhubaneswar) will be laid on Friday by chief minister Naveen Patnaik in the presence of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and petroleum minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The state government has earmarked 111.79 acres of land for the permanent campus at Godiput Matiapada, under Delang tehsil in Puri district. It will be near IIT Bhubaneswar’s permanent campus in Argul. In the first phase, 73.86 acres have been allotted. Work is expected to begin soon.
With the support of
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (
IOCL), the ICT Mumbai has opened its wing in Odisha and a new institute ICT-IOC Bhubaneshwar was launched on March 18, 2018. The temporary campus is running from the Extension Centre of IIT-Kharagpur at
Samantapuri here.
The institute has executive MTech, integrated MTech,
MTech (2 years) and PhD. A total of 261 students has been trained so far. IOCL has contributed Rs 95 crore so far for the institute, an official source said. “Patented technology of ICT hydro-dynamic cavitation has been deployed for cleaning up of Bindusagar lake. ICT-IOCB faculty have published about 75 papers in international journals. It has received project grants of more than Rs 10 crore,” said Bhaskar Narayan Thorat, director of ICT-IOCB.
On Friday, Naveen will also dedicate the permanent campus of
Skill Development Institute (SDI), Bhubaneshwar, to the nation in the presence of the Union ministers. The campus is spread over 46.17 acres of land at
Taraboi village under Jatni tehsil in Khurda district. It has been functioning from a temporary campus at Mancheswar here since 2016.
