Why your personal immunity depends on the immunity of the planet

Let’s start with the planet, our planet, a planet in crisis. Climate change is no longer the subject of presumptions about the future. It is the reality we are currently living in and it is closely related to your personal health.

I now see the climate crisis as a form of immune dysfunction: a weakened immunity on a planetary level. Without the balance and resilience of a healthy immune response, we know that this type of dysfunction is to be expected – be it a question of human biology or the planetary cycles around carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and water.

So what are we doing about it? With my new company, Big Bold Health, I focus on the food system and the promotion of regenerative practices on land and at sea. In particular, we are building supply chains around buckwheat and omega-3 fatty acids from the Himalayan tartar that nourish rather than extract. That is of course correct, but I would like to make one more point. It’s also important in protecting the nutrients we need most to build immune system resilience.

Regenerative agriculture is important as a method of sequestering carbon in the soil, but also for soil health, nutrient density, and your ability to nourish and exercise your immune system. It’s about restoring healthy ecosystems everywhere.
