Buyers Met by Medieval Knight Giving Tours of Washington Castle for Sale

A castle-themed house up for sale in Washington is being advertised by an unlikely character—a knight in shining armor.

The four-bed, four-bath house at 12227 E. Tallman Road, Chattaroy, is on the market for $600,000, and while it was built in 2002, it exudes medieval charm.

The property—comprised of 40,000 bricks—features a north and south tower, a barrel shaped ceiling, as well as "battlements" and a "fortress wall." The home also has a basement, referred to as a "fully finished daylight dungeon."

When listing the unique home, realtor Jonas Elber, of Elber and Associates, decided to embrace its quirkiness, and staged a photoshoot and house tour conducted by a knight.

In sweltering weather, the knight, an armorer from Seattle, wore more than 100 pounds of 16 and 13-gauge steel to chop oranges in the kitchen with a sword and work out on an exercise machine.

The tour also showed the knight getting himself ready in the bathroom, playing a game of hockey, as well as relaxing on the bed in the master suite.

Elber said: "We figured the future buyers of this home would be light-hearted. And I'm not convinced the buyer is local. We needed to have a big reach. So, we came up with the idea to create a video with a knight showcasing the house."

The current owners, Tim and Shelly Bemis, bought the 4,050 square foot house in 2010 and decided to sell as they reach retirement.

"I think it's a really great idea. It's really cool. I would've never thought of it," Tim said, referring to the unusual sales tactic.

Praising their home, he added: "It's beautiful, it's nice and quiet, and there are lots of animals. There's a pond and the castle is very efficient."

Going into more detail, the listing says: "Complete with battlements, a fortress wall, and a hidden room, this home is divided into two distinct living Towers. You will find yourself transported and reliving the dragon-slaying fairy tales of your favorite children's book."

"As you greet your guests underneath the courtyard's barrel-shaped ceiling, you'll occupy a landscape full of architectural detail, including a dramatic descent down the staircase covered by masoned arches. Within the castle walls is fit for Royalty. The main floor provides plenty of room for feasting and entertaining, boasting an impressive entryway, large open kitchen, dining room, and access to the basement.

"An imperial staircase defines the North and South Towers of the estate, totaling 4 finished bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The North Tower contains the primary bedroom, along with a full bath and walk-in closet, and access to the main floor and basement.

"The South Tower is home to the remaining 3 bedrooms, a craft room with a wet bar, living room, full bath, and laundry. The South Tower can be accessed through its own private entrance via the garage, giving the space definite Airbnb potential. Multiple decks surround this unique home, providing ample space for everything from hosting large events to simply relaxing and enjoying your own 10-acre Kingdom."
