Mahindra has just revealed the XUV 700 and also announced the prices of some of its 5-seater variants. The prices of the XUV 700 are very competitive as compared to other SUVs in the segment. Mahindra also unveiled their new SUV proving test track where they will be performing tests for their upcoming SUVs. Here, is a video in which we can see the XUV 700 doing high speeds of up to 185 Kmph at the SUV proving track. The XUV700 is capable of doing a true top speed of nearly 200 Kmph, making it the fastest SUV in its segment, and also the fastest SUV that Mahindra has ever built.

The testing facility itself has 20 purpose-built tracks to test the SUVs. It has a 2 km straight, 11-metre wide road and banking of 43.7-degree. The testing facility is located 55 km outside of the Mahindra Research Valley. The facility is spread over 454 acres.
Most powerful in the segment
Mahindra is claiming that the XUV 700 should be able to hit a top speed of 200 kmph. We can already see it taking turns at 150 kmph. The manufacturer will be offering the SUV with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine or a 2.2-litre diesel engine. These are the same engines used in the Thar but are in a higher state of tune.
The 2.0-litre turbo petrol produces 200 PS of max power and 380 Nm of peak torque. The engine would be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The engine belongs to mStallion range of turbocharged petrol engines that also come with direct injection.
Then there is the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine which belongs to the mHawk family of Mahindra engines. It is available in two states of tune. The lower variants will produce 155 PS of max power and 360 Nm of peak torque. Whereas on the higher variants, the same engine would produce 185 PS of max power and 420 Nm of peak torque. It would be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It is not known yet it the lower variants would get an automatic gearbox or not. Also, if you buy the automatic gearbox then the torque output is increased to 450 Nm.
Dimensions and seating
The XUV 700 has a length of 4695 mm, a width of 1890 mm and a height of 1755 mm. It has a wheelbase of 2750 mm. So, it is longer than the XUV 500 and also has a longer wheelbase. It will be sold as a 5-seater or a 7-seater in the Indian market. As of now, only the 7-seater XUV 700 has been unveiled but the prices have been revealed of the 5-seater version.
Prices and competitors
The XUV 700 starts at Rs. 11.99 lakhs ex-showroom for the MX Petrol while the MX Diesel is priced at Rs. 12.49 lakhs ex-showroom. The AX3 Petrol is priced at Rs. 13.99 lakhs ex-showroom and AX5 Petrol costs Rs. 14.99 lakhs ex-showroom. The XUV 700 will be going against Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and Hyundai Alcazar.
