US cable, phone providers add 890,000 broadband customers in Q2

Thursday 19 August 2021 | 11:15 CET | News
The largest cable and wireline phone providers in the US, representing 96 percent of the market, added 890,000 net broadband internet subscribers in the second quarter, off from the pro forma gain of 1.260 million the year before, according to the latest report from the Leichtman Research Group. The providers accounted for 107.4 million subscribers at the end of June, including 74.7 million at the top cable companies and 32.7 million at the top wireline phone companies. Despite the lower levels year-on-year, the additions represented the most in any Q2 in the past decade, except for 2020.
