Mr Kumar said that the details of the all-party delegation would be sent a fresh to the p.m. once after BJP finalises the name of its leaders joining it.
Responding to a query regarding the leader of the opposition in Bihar assembly Tejasvi Prasad Yadav joining the delegation, Mr Kumar categorically cleared that Mr Yadav would certainly be a part of the delegation as it was he who had set the ball rolling on the issue.
His name had already been mentioned in the letter sent to the PM seeking an appointment, informed Mr Kumar.
He said that it was Mr Yadav who leading a delegation of opposition parties had called on him on July 30 during the monsoon session of the Bihar legislature and requested to seek an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a discussion to urge him to order for conducting the caste-based census.
Extending his gratitude to the Prime Minister for consenting to meet the all-party delegation of Bihar, Mr Kumar said that the names of the leaders joining the delegation would be sent shortly.
It may be recalled that Mr Kumar had written a letter to the Prime Minister on August 2 seeking an appointment to discuss the issue.
Mr Kumar had earlier stated that the option of conducting caste-based census was open and could be done using the state government's resources in case the centre was
reluctant for it.
Earlier Bihar legislature on February 18, 2019, and the Bihar assembly on February 27, 2020, had unanimously passed a resolution for conducting caste-based census.
Mr Kumar while interacting with media persons had indicated that he did not feel that BJP was against caste census as it had supported a resolution passed by the Bihar legislature unanimously.
He thought that some BJP leaders might be speaking on the line adopted by the Centre but the party will have no difficulty joining the delegation.
Mr Kumar had also rejected the apprehension of caste tension in the event of a caste-based census in Bihar, stating that it would be beneficial to all sections of the society.
