If you’re a menswear obsessive, late August means one thing: it’s almost time to really start dressing. Mercifully, Nordstrom is here to help. Starting tomorrow, August 19, the Seattle-based retailer is rolling out Found In Translation: A New Language of American Style, the latest iteration of its New Concepts platform. Nordstrom launched New Concepts to spotlight a curated selection of clothing from some of the most exciting labels in the world, and it rarely disappoints. This time around, the fashion emporium partnered with Joshua Kissi—the Ghanian-American photographer, filmmaker, and all-around paragon of good taste—on a capsule that celebrates menswear’s global heritage, and it's bringing the heat.
Right now, the drop is limited to goods from the gentlemanly Brits at Drake’s, the neo-prep savants at Japanese retailer Beams, the BMX-riding Cali natives at Our Legends, and the Will Smith-founded Bel-Air Athletics, but there's plenty more to come from labels like Needles, Schott NYC, and Champion Tears through late October.
What does all that mean for you? Well, practically speaking, now’s your best shot at addressing all your fall menswear needs—and a bunch of your fall menswear wants—in one fell swoop. Because sure, your not-so-basic sweaters and sweats are duly represented in the mix here, but so are some genuinely droolworthy jackets and more than a few pairs of ~chef’s kiss emoji~ pants.
(And FYI: If you need further reason to get involved, Nordstrom's giving five percent of total sales from the shop to Kids In Need of Defense and is committed to making a minimum donation of $25,000 right off the bat.)
