Located in the Jad Ganga valley on the Indo-China border, a 150-year-old wooden bridge nestled in Uttarkashi's picturesque Nelong valley, built by Pathans from Peshawar at an altitude of 11,000 feet, has reopened to tourists for the first time since it was shut in the aftermath of the 1962 India-China war. The 136-metre-long historic wooden skywalk, called Gartang Gali, was opened to the public on Wednesday. This street, about 300 meters long, used to be the main route of Indo-Tibetan trade at one time. Back in the 17th century, the Pathans from Peshawar had made this path by cutting the rock.
