Mohali, August 18
The police have arrested nine members of an interstate gang of vehicle lifters and recovered 52 luxury cars from them.
Four members of the gang were nabbed on July 3 and 21 stolen cars were recovered from them. The suspects were identified as New Delhi residents Ramjeet Singh (27) and Chanpreet Singh (33), and Tarn Taran residents Girish Bamby, alias Garry (27), and Maninder Singh (29). A case of theft, forgery and criminal conspiracy was registered against them at the Balongi police station.
Further investigation into the case resulted in five more arrests. Patiala resident Pargat Singh was arrested and nine vehicles snatched at gunpoint were recovered from him.
The police also nabbed Moga resident Rajesh Kakkar, alias Raja, and Amritsar resident Harjot Singh, alias Jyot. Besides, Satwant Singh, alias Bittu, and Karamjit Singh, alias Lucky, have been arrested in the case so far.
Mohali SSP Satinder Singh said, “The gang was active in the tricity, Ambala, Panipat, Delhi, Karnal, Maharsahtra and Pune. More arrests are likely in the case soon.” — TNS
