Cisco brings 400G to access network with NCS 540 router

Cisco is introducing a new router in its NCS series that it says can bring the power of 400G to telecom access networks. Built on merchant silicon ASIC, the NCS 540 Large Density Router is aligned with the Cisco Routed Optical Networking Architecture, which relies on a single control plane based on IP/MPLS in a converged IP and optical network.
