Sales at Persimmon surpass pre-pandemic levels with revenues of £1.84bn for the first half of the year

Sales at Persimmon have surpassed pre-pandemic levels
Sales at Persimmon have surpassed pre-pandemic levels amid booming demand for housing. The builder reported revenues of £1.84bn for the first half of 2021, up from £1.2bn last year and £1.75bn in 2019.
Persimmon also said the number of private homes sold per week was 20pc higher than two years ago.
It reported a jump in first-half profits, from £292m to £480m, after sales of 7,406 homes were completed. The average price rose as well, from £225,066 to £236,199.
Demand for housing continues to boom following the Government’s stamp duty holiday, as well as the ‘race for space’ since lockdown restrictions were lifted.
Chief executive Dean Finch said: ‘We have delivered strong growth in legal completions whilst also achieving higher levels of build quality and customer satisfaction.’
It expects to build 10pc more homes this year than in 2020, about 14,900. Persimmon has also been on a spending spree, snapping up 10,000 plots for future developments. The dividend will be 110p per share. Shares rose 1.5pc, or 42p, to 2910p.
