A Delhi court on Wednesday cleared all charges against Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in the murder case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.
The order came after the court on Wednesday had adjourned on the last date of hearing and had allowed the Delhi Police to submit additional documents related to the case.
After getting acquitted, Shashi Tharoor said, "Most grateful, your honour. It's been seven-and-half years of absolute torture. I really appreciate it."
Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in her room at Hotel Leela in New Delhi on January 17, 2014. Her husband Shashi Tharoor was the main accused in the case and in May 2018, Delhi Police had charged him with abetment to suicide and cruelty the Sunanda's death case.
The Congress leader was charged by the Delhi Police under Sections 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
