Hyderabad: Both the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have recently seen an increase in the number of dengue cases. The health and medical experts believe that seasonal diseases also increase with the start of the monsoon season.
Fever Hospital has recorded 30 dengue cases in the past two weeks. Dr Shankar, the hospital’s superintendent, said there was an increase in the number of dengue patients. He added that 10 cases of malaria were also reported in less than 10 days.
Dr. Shankar emphasizes the need for the neatness of homes and the environment. He noted that as the monsoon season becomes active, there may be an increase in vector-borne diseases. The symptoms of dengue disease are high fever, colds, coughs and weakness, he added.
The superintendent said the state government has taken preventative measures in recent years to control the spread of dengue disease in the city. He added that the government had also upgraded the medical facilities in the fever hospital.
