NASHIK: The number of active Covid cases in
Nashik city is declining at a sluggish pace and this trend is expected to continue for the next few days, said
NMC officials.
The city is registering about 40-60 new Covid cases per day. The patients are taking at least a week to recover.
At present, Nashik city has 561 active cases, including 543 under hospitalization. There are 18 patients under home isolation.
NMC’s medical superintendent Bapusaheb
Nagargoje said there has been a drop in new cases over the last few days, but it is at a slow pace.
“At present, the city is reporting up to 60 cases per day on average and we are of the view that this trend will continue for the next few days. The cases may increase if there is a mutation of the virus," said Nagargoje.
The city recorded 99 cases per day on an average by the first week of February this year and there were around 500 active cases per day then.
But the number of cases began to rise from the second week of February. The number of new cases of
Covid 19 had increased up to 2,400 cases per day on an average in the month of April, when the state was experiencing a second wave of the pandemic.
The second wave was bigger than the first wave. In the first wave, the city had reported 6,200 active cases only, but the number was four times more during the second wave.
The number of active patients had increased to 28,000 on April 23. The number of active patients started dropping thereafter and has reduced significantly now.
