Students From Afghanistan Requests Help From Maha Government

The students from Afghanistan need help in managing their financial expenses of living and education. 

Over the disturbances in a neighboring state Afghanistan, a group of Afghan students met Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray yesterday (Tuesday). They have demanded support from the state government. Already known that on Sunday Taliban took control over the country of Afghanistan which was earlier led by President Ashraf Ghani after the US began withdrawing their troops earlier this year.

 The group that met Aaditya Thackeray mostly consisted of students from colleges in Pune. The Afghan nationals informed Aaditya Thackeray that those who had come to study in India cannot go back now. Some of their student visas are nearing their expiration date.

Students of Afghanistan origin, studying and residing in Pune, called on me with their various concerns regarding their education, future and stay/ return.

Due to the disturbing scenario in Afghanistan, the students have lost communication with their kins and is facing challenges with finances of living expenses.  They are in need of financial support as well as help in ensuring the migration of their families to safer locations.

"We will inform the central government about their need for visa extension and migration of their families. We have assured them that they will not face financial problems with regard to their studies," said Aaditya Thackeray after the meeting.
