Bernard Tomic's girlfriend Vanessa Sierra falsely claims an antiparasitic drug can treat Covid after OnlyFans star was diagnosed with the virus in Dubai
Vanessa Sierra has promoted an unproven Covid treatment in her Instagram Stories.
The girlfriend of tennis player Bernard Tomic, who is currently battling the virus at home in Dubai, shared several headlines and story excerpts about the drug Ivermectin on Tuesday.
However the Australian Department of Health has warned there is 'insufficient evidence' that the antiparasitic drug can be used to either prevent or treat Covid.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) also suggested that the drug, which is commonly used to treat diseases like river blindness and scabies, had not been proven as an effective Covid treatment.
In evidence from 16 randomised controlled trials examined by WHO, proof that there was a reduction of mortality in those taking Ivermectin was deemed to be of 'very low certainty'.
And the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned that improper use of the antiparasitic drug 'can cause serious harm'.
The FDA added they had 'received multiple reports of patients who have required medical support and been hospitalised after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses.'

Sierra, 26, also urged her fans to use an alternative search engine to Google when researching Covid treatments, as the tech giant's engine is 'no longer reliable'.
Sharing her search results, the Instagram model showed examples of articles on Ivermectin, including one from America's Frontline Doctors promoting the drug.
However the right wing political organisation is best known for spreading misinformation about Covid, including opposing social distancing and face masks as preventative measures.
The group's founder Simone Gold was arrested earlier this year for her alleged participation in the 2021 United States Capitol attack.

On Tuesday, Sierra told her fans she had contracted the virus.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, she wrote, 'Spent 8 months travelling Europe and who would've thought I'd catch COVID when I came HOME'.
The OnlyFans star continued, 'Just goes to show it is literally everywhere you don't need to be out and about to get it.'

Bad news: Vanessa said she has caught Covid after returning home to Dubai following an eight month trip around Europe
She concluded, 'Stay safe, wash your hands and wear your masks it's really not a fun time'.
When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, Vanessa confirmed that she contracted Covid in Dubai rather than in Europe.
'I got home a week ago,' said the tattooed model of her travels.
The United Arab Emirates has recently been reporting more than 1100 new cases of the virus each day.

Conspiracy theorist: In a subsequent post, Vanessa revealed she had been contacted by an anti-vaxxer who insisted she didn't have Covid, but rather just a common flu
In a subsequent post, Vanessa revealed she had been contacted by an anti-vaxxer who insisted she didn't have Covid, but rather just a common flu.
'I can assure you this is not a flu,' Vanessa fired back.
The unnamed anti-vaxxer in Vanessa's DMs had incorrectly asserted that 'PCR tests [are] rigged to make [positive test] numbers rise'.
There is no evidence for the fanciful and illogical claim that unspecified authorities are manufacturing higher numbers of Covid cases.

The bombshell also holidayed in Greece, and had earlier visited Croatia with her tennis star beau Bernard.
Bernard appeared absent from the rest of Vanessa's travels, however she recently confirmed the pair haven't broken up despite posting a video of the sportsman smashing up her laptop during a tantrum.

Statement: When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, the social media star confirmed that she contracted COVID in Dubai rather than in Europe
She said the pair were 'still together but taking time apart' after the blazing row, which took place in a penthouse apartment the pair were staying at in Croatia.
'Bernard and I never broke up, we took a break from each other. Obviously the laptop breaking thing really affected me because not only did I lose a lot of my stuff but I lost $200,000 in a [cryptocurrency] trade,' she explained on Instagram.
'Even though it was out first fight, it was pretty massive. So obviously I'm going to go and step away for a little bit to figure out what I want. That's why I got my own place in Croatia.'
Vanessa continued: 'I'm really patient in relationships. If something like this happens, I don't think straight away if I want to be with someone or I don't. I just take time for myself to think.'
She went on to say that being with Tomic was 'the most intense relationship I've ever had' but also the most 'I've ever been in love'.
'I've never been this in love before so I'm not going to throw away a relationship like that in a heartbeat,' she said.
Despite the mammoth argument, Vanessa claimed the pair had not ended their relationship, but had just 'stopped talking to each other'.
