Shares of Eicher Motors (up 2.94 per cent), MRF (up 0.78 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 0.67 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 0.09 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.04 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Tata Motors (down 1.46 per cent), TIINDIA (down 1.23 per cent), Balkrishna Industries (down 1.09 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 0.99 per cent) and Bharat Forge (down 0.97 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.2 per cent down at 10067.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 45.75 points at 16568.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 162.78 points at 55629.49.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, BHEL and Vedanta were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Meghmani Finechem Ltd., VST Tiller Trac, Pioneer Distil, Kabra Extrusion and MPS Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd., Shrenik, Viceroy Hotels, Vertoz Advertising and Future Market hit their fresh 52-week lows.
