The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has announced the continuation of blended education system with alternating attendance in schools for the new academic year 2021-2022.

The Ministry said that it was decided to adopt the average attendance rate of 50% in all public and private schools and kindergartens, with continuous monitoring and evaluation of the educational process and continuing direct coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.

In line with the precautionary measures announced by Qatar, students from the first grade to the twelfth grade will commit to wearing masks as long as they are inside the school building, along with the following precautionary measures for all public and private schools:

  • Distribute the students into groups so that one class includes a maximum of 15 students, leaving a distance of one and a half meters between each student and his classmate.
  • Commitment to wearing a mask at all levels of education, starting from the first grade of primary school.
  • Emphasis on the application of 50% of the capacity of school buses.
  • Continuing the bubble system in the classroom, with organizing the entry and exit of students to prevent overcrowding.
  • Students who suffer from diseases that prevent them from receiving education at school - as determined by the Ministry of Public Health - are excluded from attendance, provided that they continue to attend remotely, and those excluded from attendance must submit a recent medical certificate proving this, approved by the Ministry of Public Health.
  • It is forbidden to go out during breaks, and the students must eat their meals inside the classroom.
  • Morning queue and group activities, such as excursions, camps and celebrations, can be held.
  • Students take all the central and semester exams inside the school building.

The Ministry stresses that the health and safety of its students, teaching staff, administration and all school workers is one of its most important priorities. Despite the vaccination of more than 94% of educational and administrative cadres in all public and private schools and kindergartens in Qatar, the Ministry stresses the need for all administrators and teachers to adhere to implementing precautionary measures and full cooperation with the concerned authorities in the event of discovering or suspecting any cases of infection with the (Covid-19) virus.
