Tuesday morning, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear will give an update on the state of COVID-19 in the commonwealth.

Beginning at 11:30 a.m., Beshear is expected to discuss the "dire state of our hospitals, and who is eligible for a vaccine booster," according to his Facebook page.

Like other states, Kentucky has felt the impact from the surge in cases caused by the delta variant of COVID-19. As of the most recent update of the state's numbers Monday, Kentucky has a total of 518,987 cases, 7,451 deaths and a 12.4% positivity rate.

Only seven of Kentucky's 120 counties are classified as "substantial" with the number of average daily cases per 100,000 people – the rest are in the red, meaning a "high" number of average daily cases.

"Our hospitals are sounding the alarm as many have reached capacity due to rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases," the post announcing Tuesday's update reads.

The update will be available to watch live through Beshear's Facebook or YouTube
