Kothagudem Primary School reopens after two years

Kothagudem: A government primary school in the Bikkutanda village of Paloncha mandal in the district reopened on Tuesday after two years as part of the ‘Paper Pencil Program’.

The school was closed two years ago as there were no children of school age in the town and the school was closed and the teachers working there were temporarily sent to another school.

At the request of the villagers, the school was reopened by Mandal Education Officer (MEO) B Sriram Murthy for the academic year 2021-22 with the aim of getting the students used to the study.

He said that according to the instructions of the education authorities, classes for first, second and third standard students would be offered. Up to 10 students joined the school as part of the Paper Pencil program.

At the event, books, pencils and pens were handed out to the students. The program aims to make students interested in studies such as the Covid The crisis has kept students away from education for months, the MEO said.

As part of the program, worksheets are compiled in connection with the curriculum and the teachers go directly to the home of the student’s residences in the areas where they work and hand it over to the students.

The event was attended by the village arpanch, Amar Singh, principal, Shailaja, CRP, Thota Srinivasa Rao, principal Jagannadhapuram, B Prakash Rao, president of school committee, and secretary of Gram Panchayat Sowjanya.
