Mumbai University merit list: Xavier's Arts cut-off goes up by 6%, closes at 98% in first allotment

For first-year BSc admissions for biological subjects, the cut-offs were at 92% for state board students - a jump of 13% from the previous year. For non-biological subjects, too, the cut-offs went up by over 5% for HSC students.
Since exams across boards were called off during the second wave of Covid, the results were based on internal assessments by colleges combined with class X scores. Students scoring 90% and above went up drastically across boards. CBSE registered an almost 40% rise of students in the elite club from Maharashtra, while among state board students, the numbers rose by over 1100%.
Principal Rajendra Shinde from St Xavier's College said that they were expecting the cut-offs to go up. "We are positive about getting good students on board as the rise in numbers is relative."
Colleges affiliated with Mumbai University will be releasing their first merit list for first-year degree college courses on Tuesday. With a jump in higher scores, students scoring in the 90s also may not be able to get through a college of their choice.
At KPB Hinduja College, admissions to BCom closed at 90.3% in the first list. For BCom (accounts and finance) and BCom (financial management), the cut-offs were around 91.5% and 91.3% respectively. The BMS cut-off for commerce students was at 93.8%.
