Just Eat Takeaway.com NV said Tuesday that net loss for the first half of 2021 widened on the back of investments. The company said its absolute losses peaked in the period.
The Grubhub owner said net loss for the first half was 486 million euros ($572.3 million) compared with EUR59 million for the year-earlier period.
The Amsterdam-based, food-delivery group said revenue for the first half increased to EUR1.77 billion from EUR675 million for the same period last year.
On a combined basis, including Grubhub, the company said its first-half revenue grew 52% to EUR2.61 billion. It swung to an adjusted loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of EUR190 million compared with a positive outcome of EUR205 million a year before.
The company said it expects improved profitability driven by the growth and increased scale of the business, and reiterated guidance for the full year given last month.
