CHANDIGARH: The UT administration has recommended the name of
Vinay Pratap Singh, a 2011-batch Haryana cadre
IAS officer posted as
Panchkula deputy commissioner, for the post of new Chandigarh deputy commissioner, to the Centre.
The tenure of DC Mandip Brar is going to end on October 30.
Sources said the name was recommended after the approval of Punjab governor-cum-UT administrator
V P Singh Badnore. Last month, the Haryana government had sent a panel of three IAS officers for the post of deputy commissioner, to the UT administration. The post is reserved for a Haryana-cadre IAS officer.
The panel was consisting of Prabhjot Singh, a 2010 batch Haryana cadre IAS posted as special secretary to Haryana, health department, and mission director,
National Health Mission, Haryana; Vinay Pratap Singh and Mukul Kumar, a 2011 batch IAS posted as Kurukshetra DC.
While Prabhjot Singh had remained Sirsa DC, Vinay Pratap Singh had remained DC of Karnal and Gurugram, and commissioner of Gurugram MC. Similarly, Mukul Kumar had remained DC of Panchkula and Yamunanagar.
A senior UT official said the names were discussed by senior officials and it was decided to recommend Vinay Pratap Singh’s name to the Centre. Accordingly, approval was taken from Badnore and the panel sent.
New commissioner of MC joins next weekThe new municipal corporation commissioner, Anindita Mitra, a 2007 batch IAS officer of
Punjab cadre, will join the UT administration next week. The term of current MC commissioner K K Yadav will be over by the end of this week. The Punjab government had sent the names of three IAS officers for the post to the UT. Mitra (2007 batch IAS), Amit Kumar and Rajiv Prashar, both 2008 batch IAS. The state government had sent the panel three months before the completion of the tenure of K K Yadav, whose term had also ended in May but was given extension till August. Recently, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by
PM Narendra Modi had issued orders to appoint Mitra as the UT municipal corporation commissioner.
